So, I have a niece, and she LOVES horses..
I thought, what better gift for Christmas than a stuffed horse..
Now, we know(from previous posts)that I have made my own patterns before. But, I REALLY didn't have time to work one up.
Making a pattern can take hours or days.
The search was on.. For the perfect horsie pattern.
If you are looking for a pattern there are 2 sites I recommended.
The first, Raverly.com
What is great about raverly?
Well, it pretty much has everything crochet AND knit, for one.
It is also full of FREE patterns.
But, atlas no horsies.. or at least ones that I liked..
The search for the perfect pattern was on.
This led me to my 2nd recommend site
If you can't find what you are looking for(pattern or pre-made)at Raverly, then etsy is where you want to be!
It was here that I found it... The PERFECT pattern! The horse is the picture was ABSOLUTELY adorable! AND, the arms and legs MOVED!
HOLY COW!!!!!!!
I didn't hesitate to buy this baby........
I purchased the pattern for the following pictures from http://www.etsy.com/shop/missybdesigns?ref=seller_info
I will start with my finished pictures, because I do NOT want to discourage you with my review..
The pattern results turned out great.. I did modify some moves for my second horse
this was the first
Here is the second, with a few modifications(Of which I will specify in a minute)
OKay.
Out of 5 stars I give this pattern 3
What I liked-
well the cutest for one!
The genius idea of adding the buttons(will have to purchase to see how)to cause the legs to be movable!
What I didn't like-
I have NEVER seen a pattern written as this was..
I have only used patterns that worked in rounds.
example- round 1- Sc in 2 st, 2sc next st, sc next 4(8)
This pattern is NOT written like the example.
.
I really can't even describe how it is written.
I take away one of 5 stars NOT because of how it was written as much as because I REALLY feel that she should have mentioned in her listing that this pattern is NOT written in round format.
I spent a little over 3hrs going through this pattern and decoding it into round format
If you remember above, I mentioned that I decided NOT to make my own pattern because I didn't really have the time..
Well I spent as much time as it probably would have taken to make my own, decoding this...:(
My second star was taken away because I REALLY don't feel like the pattern was written correctly(i.e-some of the moves were not added)
on the first horse the belly is really skinny and the neck REALLY long..
I checked and rechecked to make sure i made NO mistakes changing the pattern.. I WAS making the first horse AS I was rewriting the pattern.
For the second horse I made some changes.. particularly I shorted the neck and made the belly fatter..
II think the second horse looks WAY better. If/when I make a 3rd I plan to add a couple rounds to the belly...
All and all, CUTE pattern, NOT well written.
IF you are experienced enough to read patterns NOT written in rounds and either work or(like I did)convert them, I recommend this pattern....
